 SPAZBOY

BLADOW!
1996 IMMUNE RECORDS
IMM-1011 / SPZBY1

SPAZBOY FORMED IN 1995 IN SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA AND PLAYED UPBEAT PUNK ROCK THAT COULD BE EXPECTED FROM A PUNK BAND IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA IN THE 1990'S.  THEY HAVE HAD FOURTEEN DIFFERENT MEMBERS OVER THE YEARS.  THEY ARE STILL ACTIVE AND THE CURRENT LINE UP IS JAY ON GUITAR, WILLIS ON BASS AND  ERIC ON DRUMS.  DEREK PERFORMED BASS AND VOCALS ON THIS ALBUM.  OTHER MEMBERS OVER THE YEARS HAVE INCLUDED STEVE ON DRUMS AND BASS, T.J. ON DRUMS, BEN ON DRUMS, JACOB ON GUITAR, JOSH ON DRUMS AND BASS, SCOTT ON GUITAR, TWO DIFFERENT MIKES ON BASS, ANDY ON DRUMS, JASON ON BASS, AND KEVIN ON GUITAR.
A REVIEW FROM HELLBENDER ZINE (NEW YORK), ISSUE NUMBER NINE STATES: "FINALLY A SOLID POP PUNK OFFERING.  THIS IS CATCHY, FUN, AND HAS INFECTIOUS VOCALS.  YOU KNOW THE RECIPE USED ON THIS ONE: SONGS ABOUT GIRLS AND STRAINED FRIENDSHIPS BACKED BY MUSIC CATCHIER THAN THE FLU.  THIS ONE WILL KEEP YOU ROCKING & ROLLING ALL NIGHT LONG."

REVIEW FROM HELLBENDER ZINE

YELL-O RECORDS RELEASED SPAZBOY'S DEBUT 7 INCH EP "SO THERE WE WERE..." IN 1995 AND A SPLIT 7 INCH WITH THE SAN DIEGO PUNK BAND SWINDLE IN 1996.  "SPAZBOY, BLOODY SPAZBOY" WAS PUT OUT ON RED 7 INCH VINYL ON ALPHABET RECORDS, AND THIS CD ("BLADOW!") WAS RELEASED ON IMMUNE RECORDS, BOTH IN 1996.  "TWILIGHT AREA" WAS RELEASED BY IMMUNE RECORDS IN 1998,  FOLLOWED BY "ALRIGHT, TOKYO!" ON MOONSAULT RECORDS IN 2000.
"BLADOW!" INCLUDES SPAZBOY'S INFAMOUS COVER OF KATRINA AND THE WAVES "WALKIN' ON SUNSHINE."  THIS IS A GOOD ALBUM FOR FANS OF SO-CAL POP PUNK FROM THE MID-1990'S.  RECORDED AND MIXED BY JEFF FORREST.
